Please tell us about your role at PNDC

My role at PNDC is R&D Engineer (Energy Systems), working in Dr Priya Bhagavathy’s whole energy systems team.

What was your background before joining PNDC?

Before PNDC I completed a PhD at the University of Nottingham (UoN) primarily modelling the heat decarbonisation of rural off gas grid homes in the UK. A lot of different topics were covered including; using smart meter data, hydrogen energy systems, heat storage, lab work, social science and more. This was part of the Sustainable Hydrogen CDT.

In between initially handing in my PhD thesis and final submission of corrections I worked as a Research Assistant on the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) funded ADSorB heat storage project at UoN and on NexGen infrared heating wallpaper evaluation at Nottingham Trent University.

What made you wish to join PNDC?

I wanted to join PNDC to continue working in the field of energy systems, which I have found extremely interesting and timely with the national efforts to update our energy systems to cleaner and more efficient means. The opportunity to work at PNDC fits quite well and there is much opportunity here for that.

What can we find you doing in your spare time?

Having moved from England to Glasgow I have a lot of spare time! So any suggestions are much appreciated. I have some ideas to fill up my spare time such as visiting parts of Scotland, trying out a new sport like perhaps climbing, tag rugby and potentially walking the Antoine Wall!

Other than that I need to organise moving all my stuff in storage in Leicester to Glasgow. That might take some effort!
