Please tell us about your role at PNDC

As a lead R&D engineer at PNDC, my key role is to develop and deliver a portfolio of technical research and innovation projects in whole energy systems, with particular emphasis on experimental validation and testing. The research focuses on the integration of heat and transport into the electricity vector and the role of hydrogen in the transition to net zero.

How long have you worked at PNDC?

I joined PNDC in January 2022 and have taken a lead role in the delivery of around four projects, including the Hydrogen Accelerator project.

What was your background before joining PNDC?

I have over a decade of professional experience in the energy transition interweaving technology, regulation and policy paradigms. Before joining PNDC, I was a Whole System manager at SSEN Transmission, leading the review of their whole system strategy and establishing best practices to incorporate whole system thinkingg as business as usual. I am currently a visiting researcher at the University of Oxford and was a full-time researcher/senior researcher in the Energy and Power Group at the University of Oxford. I have an undergraduate in electrical and electronics engineering, masters in energy systems, and a doctoral degree in electrical engineering. I have worked both in industry and academia, enabling me to seamlessly bridge the expectations of partners and stakeholders in collaborations.

What do you enjoy most about working at PNDC?

I enjoy working on cutting edge technology along with industry partners and helping accelerate the transition to net-zero. I also enjoy the independence and flexibility that I get at PNDC. Work-life balance has always been a priority for me. Luckily, all the organisations I have worked with have been flexible with the working hours!

What can we find you doing in your spare time?

During my spare time, you can find me enjoying family time with my daughter and husband. I also love listening to music (mostly Indian, my daughter is forcing me to listen to a wider variety now, though!) and reading. The last book that I read is ‘Thinking in Systems’ by Donella Meadows.
