Ronnie is one of the PNDC’s friendliest faces! We find out how he came to join the centre, as well as how he spends his time when he isn’t studying towards his honours degree in electrical engineering, in this week’s “Meet the Team”.

Tell us about your role at the PNDC.

I am one of the Technicians at the PNDC, helping to commission and deliver testing for projects here at the facility.

How long have you been working here?

5 years this year.

What was your background before joining the PNDC?

I served my apprenticeship at Edinburgh Airport as a Maintenance Technician and worked there for nearly 12 years in total, carrying out various roles throughout including Senior Authorised Person for the sites HV network and Airfield Lighting System. I then spent a couple of years travelling round the world on seismic survey vessels as an instrumentation operator, before joining the PNDC in Summer 2015.

What do you enjoy most about working at the PNDC?

100% the people! Lots of interesting characters from all corners of the globe with different backgrounds and stories, who are great to work with and be around. The level of knowledge and experience from everyone working at the centre makes it a great place for constantly learning about the industry and applying it to the work done here.

What can we find you doing in your spare time?

Unfortunately at this moment in time mostly studying, towards the final semester of a an honours degree in Electrical Engineering. I am however looking forward to getting back in to the gym properly again, as well running, hillwalking and camping, all with my partner in crime!
