Invitation Only PNDC / ESA Workshop – Opportunities for Satellite Applications in Energy & Power Grids
Date: Tuesday May 24th 2016
Location: ECSAT, Fermi Avenue, Harwell Campus, Didcot, Oxfordshire, OX11 0FD
The PNDC is working with European Space Agency to explore opportunities for Satellite Applications in Energy and Power grids. Access to funding for this type of activity is available via the ARTES Integrated Application Promotions (IAP) Program. Full details of which can be found here: https://artes-apps.esa.int/artes-iap-funding-schemes
In December, ESA provided a workshop at the PNDC (presentation attached) demonstrating the types of opportunities that exist in smart grids covering the following areas:
• Condition Monitoring of Assets
• Combining localised sensors with satellite communications
• Secure Communications
• UAV Operations
• Climatology / weather forecasting and environmental base lining
Due to interest from our members we are now progressing this to an invitation only workshop at ESA’s offices in Harwell on Tuesday May 24th.
The aim of which is to further explore key areas of interest, gain ESA’s technical input as to what is possible and ultimately look at submitting ARTES funding proposals. This will be done in consultation with the Satellite Applications and Offshore Renewable Energy Catapults.
