Please tell us about your role at PNDC

As a Research & Development Engineer, my role at PNDC is to conduct collaborative research, development, testing and implementation of projects with focus on innovative power system protection and automation solutions for a smart green power system.

How long have you worked at PNDC?

I joined PNDC in March 2021, midst lockdown.

What was your background before joining PNDC?

Before PNDC, I was working in the Indian power system industry for the Central Transmission Utility of India, Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd., for 12 years. The life at CTU moulded me as a power system automation and protection engineer with hands on experience in commissioning automation, relaying & interlocking logic schemes for EHV substations including the first remote operated power station in Kerala state, India. The CTU also provided me with an opportunity to conduct doctoral studies at the Kerala Technical University, thus enabling me to produce prolific research outcomes for the power system industry. I moved on to explore and experience the research ambience at PNDC and gain an international exposure to contribute, in the best possible way I can, to the power system society.

What do you enjoy most about working at PNDC?

As a newbie, I am eagerly waiting to be in the midst of the dynamic team at PNDC, from a diverse social, cultural, educational and professional background, all working towards a green, sustainable future. The support and co-operation received from the staff during this work from home period really speak volumes about the great team morale at PNDC.

What can we find you doing in your spare time?

I believe music and dance cultivates creativity and imagination in an individual. My spare time is filled with music, dance and arts. Time flies when I am with my child, listening to his whimsical mumblings. My son keeps the child in me alive.
